Wow, have I been busy….still working on my house, had a visitor from home and I am meeting new people.
Since my last post 3 weeks ago, so much has happened;
The storm/pet door was installed by Lowes and it has changed my dog’s life. She is more independent now, so I don’t have to get up all the time to let her in and out… lifesaver.
I painted my bedroom this morning, 3 walls so far, doing the 4th wall a couple shades darker. Pictures to follow, not quite down yet.
I had a landscaping crew come in and cut down some large tree limbs that were over my house, clean out my gutters, cut back a ton of over growth in the yard and remove some debris in the yard. Now I can maintain the yard.
I went to a Flower Show in Newport RI with my cousin, such a great day!
That same night, we went to Waterfire in Providence RI. OMG, this was really cool! I have never seen anything like this before. The Providence River runs through the city. Through out the summer, fires are lit in the river, to the music in the background, and thousands of people come to see it. There are merchandise, food and drink vendors set up down some streets and also street performers through out. What an experience!
The next day, we went to a beach down near Narragansett RI. Very relaxing.
Also, we went on a hike at Purgatory Chasm.
I had my car inspected. I went on my towns Facebook page, which is very active by the way, and took a poll on where to take my car for inspection. About 15 people responded and went to the place that had the most recommendations. I was very happy with the place.
I have been walking with a neighbor on the weekends and with the meetup group every Thursday night. Its been fun getting to know the ladies and making new friends.
I interviewed a pet sitter from a site that my real estate agent recommended, Rover.com. So now I have a pet sitter for when I need to take a long day away. She doesn’t do over nighters so I will have to find someone else to do that when I am ready.
July 3rd, there was the best fireworks show at my beach, just a 5 min walk away. There had to have been a couple thousand of people there. The fireworks went off for 50 minutes, the longest show I have ever seen. Luckily I could walk home but the traffic was crazy and it took over an hour for all the cars and traffic to get out of the area. All of us that live on the side streets had to deal with the crowds but it wasn’t that bad.
July 4th, I went with my cousin to a friend of hers house, who has a small house in a camp ground, on a lake. They have a nice deck and dock for their boat. Such a nice day!
This past weekend, a good friend from PA came to visit me. My first house guest! we had such a great time. She arrived on Friday and just relaxed and caught up.
Sat was a very full day! We took my dog for a walk first thing and met some other dog walkers. Everyone so far has been so friendly.
Then, we went to a really great art festival in the nearby historic town or Wickford. So many vendors, great little shops. We came back home and took a break from the hot sun.
Then we went to some consignment and antique shops to kill some time before we joined my cousin for dinner.
I took friend to a really cool bar/restaurant called Ogies Trailer Park in Providence. It has a 50’s retro décor and their drinks are all from that time as well. You order food from the window of a trailer and you get a license plate from one of the 50 states and when your order is ready they call your state. Fun!
Then I took my friend to see Waterfire so she could experience this really cool local attraction. Of course she loved it as well.
The next day we did a little shopping , then we went to the beach for a couple of hours. Very relaxing.
We went to out dinner at a great place on the water called Finns Harborside. It was right on the dock so there were lots of boats right there.
The next day, we walked to a little beach café for breakfast and then she went on her way.
Such a great visit and I know she will be back, there’s so much to explore.
I am now looking forward to my next visitors this weekend! One of my sisters is coming!!! I am so excited to see her!!
A couple of other thoughts since I have moved here in May…
I am doing and seeing things that I have never done before.
I am meeting new people.
I am growing my hair long for the first time in 20+ years. I had pretty short hair. I used to get my hair cut every 5 weeks and I haven’t had a hair cut or high light in 7 months!
I am walking a ton more, in fact, the other day, I walked over 16,000 steps! Yes, that’s 16 thousand!! So that means that I should see some weight loss soon if I keep this pace up.
It’s an exciting time in my life!
So that’s what’s been happening. Stay tuned for more of my adventures.
Wow Lynne, it sounds like you are loving your new life! So happy for you. You surely do deserve it!
