It’s been 4.5 months, since my fall, and it’s has been such a slow process. I have been going to PT twice a week for 10 weeks, and doing the exercises at home as well. I was supposed to start aqua therapy. I was walking with a walker and even trying to use a cane, and then… I injured the same leg!!
It happened 2 Sundays ago. I was standing in the bathroom, and my leg gave out, I lost my balance, and I almost fell. I managed to catch myself, by grabbing the sink. The pain was brutal. I wasn’t capable of putting any pressure on that leg and still can’t.
The next day, I called my orthopedic doctors’ office and spoke to the on-call doctor. They told me to go to the express clinic, where I’d be seen right away. Due to insurance, they took an x-ray, which showed nothing. I knew that I didn’t break anything. But what was the source of all of the pain?
1 week later, I saw my orthopedic doctor and he ordered an MRI. Hopefully I will get some answers.
I am rolling around the house on my desk chair again. The walkers are in the bathroom. They help me stand on the good leg. I use them to get on and off the toilet and in the shower. Getting in and out of the shower is difficult. The sliding glass doors and metal door frame complicate it, but we are making it happen.
I have to work in my living room. I’m avoiding my office for now. There is a step down, which I can not handle right now.
I have to give a massive shout out to Dave. He has been amazing during this whole ordeal. I would be lost with out him.
And just to add to the fun, I got a kidney stone a couple of weeks ago.
But wait, that’s not all. The plumbing in my only bathroom decided to back up. This affected my toilet, shower, and kitchen sink, which is all connected. I called the plumber, who cleared the problem but…..that was a temporary fix. There is a bigger problem lurking under my 110 year old house. That would be the 110 year old cast iron pipes. The plumbers are coming back today to look into that situation, which is not cheap. To be continued…..
When it rains, it pours.
