Big Changes Ahead!

I haven’t written in a while because I didn’t have much to write about. Life has just been going day by day, with nothing too exciting happening to speak of. I have been trying to keep busy and I did a couple fun things over the summer.

I met an amazing person last year and we have spent a lot of time together. I want to thank him so much for being there for me as I navigated the waters of divorce.  His friendship and support means so much to me. I feel blessed and fortunate to have met him and I know that I have a friend for life.

Money has been really tight with living in my house on 1 income. I like my job but don’t make a lot of money. Then again, who does these days? .

I have been in this house since 1992 and since my ex left 2.5 years ago, being under this roof is nothing but memories. I tried painting and hanging new pictures(see previous blog) to make it feel more like me but ultimately,  I need to get out of this house!!

I thought about getting a roommate, getting a part time job, anything to make a little extra money. But then, a family member, who lives out of state, asked me if I wanted to move there?  It is such a generous offer and a great opportunity at this stage of my life.

I thought, wow, that’s an interesting concept. I do need a change for sure and this one would be huge! I can start fresh in a new state! It will be hard to leave my family and friends here, but I am excited to start the next chapter of my life.  As I always say, “life is short!” And recently I say, “take a risk, what do you have to lose?”

I will sell my house, walk away with some cash and be debt free for the first time since I was in my 20’s!!! I cant wait for that part for sure!

Luckily, I can keep my job no matter where I go, since I work from home, yay!

So, I have a lot to do! I need to get some things fixed around my house, have a yard sale and then put my house on the market. I live in a great school district, so if I price it right, my house should sell quickly.  In the last couple of weeks, I have been consolidating my “stuff” and already have about 50% pulled aside for the yard sale. I realized what is necessity and what is just “stuff”

My family is being very supportive, even though it wont be easy for them as well. They have gotten used to me being around. I am currently 45 mins to 60 mins away from them but I will be about 4.5 hours away when I move. Not too far away for visiting through out the year.

I am not sure how long all this will take but I really shooting to be moved by the end of the year at the latest. I think it is very doable.

Stay tuned for the posts about preparing to move, actually moving and adjusting to my new life after I move.

Is there anyone else going through a major life change?

  2. I wish you the best. It sounds like a very exciting time for you.

My kids and I moved 600 miles away from our home this summer. Left the house and whatever we couldn’t sell behind. It wasn’t a happy move but it was necessary.
